Abe by Swat Kat of Bionic Type is a free scratchy handwritten display font with an uneasy, hand-drawn edge. Its thin, wavering strokes change width abruptly and gather into dark knots at many joins. The uneven letter shapes look freshly improvised rather than neatly penned.
Jittery ink drawings and rough doodles echo its broken line, making it a convincing choice for dark horror posters, underground album covers, and offbeat game graphics. Handmade packaging could reach buyers drawn to outsider art.
