Academician Freshman by Gene Buban of FontStruct is a free monoline techno font built from spare geometric strokes. Octagonal bends give its modular construction a measured, mechanical look. The broad, airy letters use abrupt cutoffs and squared joins reminiscent of early vector graphics.

Circuit-like outlines echo technical diagrams, suiting science museum posters and electronics packaging. It also suits retro game graphics. In an app display, the lettering can become an interface element rather than serving only as a label.
