BalladeContour by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung is a free medieval blackletter font with broad, rounded strokes and sharply hooked tips. Its swelling forms soften the traditional Gothic structure, yet the uneven edges retain a hand-cut quality. The lettering feels sturdy and theatrical.

The pronounced contour can become part of fantasy illustration, especially on game covers and event posters built around heraldry or folklore. It also suits ale packaging and folk-metal merchandise, where the dense shapes recall carved tavern signs. Across these uses, the blend of medieval angles and inflated curves supplies the common link.
