Birney is a free handwritten display font with broad, uneven strokes. The letters lean, swell, and pinch unpredictably, and their blunt endings and lopsided joins give the writing a rough cut-paper silhouette with plenty of forward motion.
Designers working in children's entertainment, independent music, or casual food branding can draw on that raw humor for packaging, event posters, and merchandise. It is strongest in poster lettering, where the changing widths and awkward angles can become part of a loose cartoon illustration instead of reading as a polished typographic layer over the artwork.
