Jim Nightshade by Astigmatic is a free calligraphic script with a dark, theatrical edge. Sharp serifs, restless contours, and dramatic changes in stroke width give the letters the look of hurried ink from an old storybook.
Book covers are its strongest setting, especially for supernatural fiction, gothic tales, and folklore. The same scratchy elegance suits poster titles and game graphics built around haunted settings, eccentric villains, or period mystery. On Halloween packaging and event invitations, the lettering can become part of the illustration, echoing crooked branches, quill marks, or hand-drawn shadows.
