KUCHAR 字体

Kuchar, designed by JD Beltran at SFAI Typography in spring 2012, is a free handwritten display font with tall, loosely drawn capitals. Its uneven stroke widths, rounded bends, and shifting proportions give the lettering the direct look of marker writing, with narrow forms set beside broader, more open ones.

Designers working on community arts projects will find it suited to event posters and independent music graphics. Its quick, uncorrected lines also fit casual food packaging and handmade merchandise, where a polished typeface could feel too formal. In editorial design, it can give pull quotes the immediacy of personal notes.

Kuchar was created by SFAI students Cory Bates, Tyler Cross, Michael Figge, Erin Hall, Elise Inferrera, Antonia Kimatian, Roman Koval, Joey Kuo, Riho Kurematsu, Noell Nelson, Kelly Nettles, Kegan Snyder, and Dayna Rochelle Stanley, along with SFAI faculty member JD Beltran, in their spring 2012 SFAI typography class.

Kuchar is based on Georges’ handwriting on the labels of his VHS and MiniDV tapes.
