Marleen Script Reduced by Marleen Baumann and Ingo Zimmermann of ingoFonts Augsburg is a free handwritten font with thin, wandering strokes and oversized looping forms. Its uneven joins and shifting letter heights keep the writing distinctly personal.
Illustrations with loose ink lines can echo the lettering's broad curves in book covers and editorial features. It also suits boutique branding, invitation designs, and music merchandise, especially when a signature-like mark is part of the artwork. The relaxed pen movement points toward intimate, independent, and singer-songwriter settings rather than formal calligraphic traditions.

Printed scripts generally use uniform characters. Individual handwriting, by contrast, is characterized by variation in letterforms; for example, the form of an “e” can vary depending on the preceding or following letter.
When calligraphy is converted into a typeface, these variations must be adapted so that letters can connect to neighboring characters. OpenType font formats allow fonts to include larger sets of ligatures and stylistic alternates and apply them easily.
Marleen Script includes nearly 100 stylistic alternates for individual letters and more than 400 ligatures.
All ingoFonts fonts can be downloaded for free. The available files contain only a reduced font consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters from A to Z and a to z. The complete font, including numerals, umlauts, punctuation, and ligatures, is available only with an order and payment.
