New Athena Unicode, revised by R. Hancock and D. Mastronarde after J. Rusten's 1997 design, is a free classical high-contrast serif. Its slim hairlines and broad vertical strokes give the letters a crisp, formal silhouette. Pointed joins and sharply cut serifs keep the design disciplined rather than ornate.
For scholarly publishing, its classical proportions suit editions and essays, but the same refinement also fits museum branding and cultural event materials. Book covers can draw on its stately forms, and invitations gain an academic, ceremonial note. In each setting, the lettering can establish an identity rooted in classical study and careful typography.
