SF Plasmatica Shaded Italic by Derek Vogelpohl of ShyFoundry is a free outlined sci-fi display font built from broad, slanted forms with changing stroke widths and crisp clipped inner corners that resemble panels cut for a machine casing. Its offset shadow cuts a dark second edge around the letters.

Merchandise is an especially good fit for this mechanical lettering, whose outlined mass can suggest speed and molded surfaces on racing shirts, game graphics, and technology packaging. In publishing, the same hard-edged silhouette could shape science-fiction magazine covers or feature openers, becoming part of an industrial or futuristic graphic theme.
